Color Last Longer

You've invested time and money in your color. Let's make sure it stays beautiful as long as possible. Color-treated hair has different needs than natural hair, and a few simple changes to your routine can make a dramatic difference. Here's what I tell my clients.

Switch to Sulfate-Free Shampoo

Sulfates are harsh detergents that strip color way faster than gentler cleansers. Switching to a sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo is the single easiest thing you can do. And use lukewarm or cool water — hot water opens the hair cuticle and lets color molecules escape.

Never Skip Heat Protection

Heat tools are one of the biggest causes of color fading. Every time you use a flat iron or blow dryer without protection, you're essentially cooking the color out. A good heat protectant is non-negotiable. Apply it to damp hair before blow drying, and reapply before using any hot tools.

Gloss Treatments Are a Secret Weapon

One of the best-kept secrets for maintaining color is regular gloss or toner treatments. These are quick, affordable salon services that refresh your tone, seal the cuticle, and add insane shine. I recommend them every 4 to 6 weeks. Think of it as a tune-up for your hair.

Wash Less Frequently

The more you wash, the faster your color fades. I know dry shampoo isn't everyone's favorite, but it really does extend the life of your color. Try stretching your washes to every 2 to 3 days. Your color will last longer, and your natural oils will keep your hair healthier.

Protect from the Sun and Environment

UV rays, hard water, and pollutants all contribute to fading. A UV-protectant spray is a must for sunny days, and a shower filter can make a big difference if you have hard water at home. These are small steps that add up.
